Changing the Battery in Your Mazda 3 Key Fob

It's a pain to get into your car at the end of a long workday and discover that the key fob is dead. Fortunately, it is an easy fix using the simple replacement of a battery at an electronics store or big box retailer.

The addition of a spare key fob to your Mazda 3 can be an affordable way to keep yourself from having to be driven to the dealership and having them reprogram your keys.

Battery Replacement

You can replace the battery on your Mazda 3 keyfob at home. However, you should only replace the battery when it goes out of service, or if the key fob displays a message on the multi-information display saying, "Low key fob battery. Replace battery."

To open the key fob case You'll need a tape wrapped flathead screwdriver and a bit of patience. The rubber seals on the chip's electronic components can be damaged by water, particularly when it is submerged over long periods of time, such as in a pool or at the beach. The chip may cease to function and require replacement of the keyfob.
